COOKIES - Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake

1-3/4 cups boiling water
1 cup uncooked oatmeal (quick kind)
1 cup lightly packed brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
2 extra large eggs
1-3/4 cups unsifted flour
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbl cocoa (unsweetened)
1 - 12 oz. pkg semi-sweet choc. chips
3/4 cup chopped walnuts (I like pecans better)

Pour boiling water over oatmeal & let stand 10 minutes. Add sugar and butter. Stir until butter melts.  Add eggs. Mix well. Sift together flour, soda, salt and cocoa. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture. Mix well.  Add about 1/2 of chocolate chips.  Pour batter into greased & floured 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle nuts & remaining chocolate chips on top. Bake 350° about 40 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.  No frosting needed.
